Welcome to the radio broadcast and launch of the artist (sound) book Hamskifter, which includes a web-based audio work in five parts and a limited-edition silkscreen print.

The sound of Hamskifter was recorded in Western Norway, Finnskogen and Hallingdal. The episodes include biographical, historical and mythological elements, where the audio recordings take the listener to the various recording locations. The episodes explore themes such as consciousness, identity and belonging through the use of storytelling and dialogue. Each episode connects to recordings of previous conversations and explores the interaction between humans and the influence of nature and plants on our psyche.

The launch will feature the broadcast of three episodes on 100.3 FM and 1314 AM frequencies, in collaboration with the artist Karen Werner and Radio Multe. Additionally, artists Ole Christian Ellestad and Renate Synnes Handal will present readings related to their contributions in the episodes «Hamskifte» and «Planteånder».

Participating artists: Ole Christian Ellestad, Renate Synnes Handal, Mekdes Weldehanna Shebeta, and Martin Mikkelsen, who contributed to idea development, voice work, sound production and design. Pauliina Pollinen contributed with her voice and provided the Finnish translations for the episode «Hamskifte.»

The launch event will be conducted in part English and Norwegian.

Hamskifter is supported with studio facilities and equipment at Bergen Centre for Electronic Arts and funds from the Visual Artists’ Remuneration Fund and Arts Council, Norway—website by PART design. Silkscreen made at Trykkeriet Senter for Samtidstrykk.
